Bats Come Alive For Both Fielder Squads Friday

August 26, 2011-Zion, IL –The Lake County Fielders lead most of the way Friday evening in their win against border rival, Kenosha County Fielders by a score of 12 to 11. The season series is now a one game advantage held by Kenosha.

Kenosha made the game interesting, plating the bulk of their runs in the eighth and ninth innings. Lake County used reliever Chris Malec, Jerricho Jones, and Michael Martin in relief of starter Matt Atkins. Martin struggled mightily and because of how many runs he surrendered, he actually recorded a save in the game. Martin pitched the final 2/3's of an inning, allowing three runs on one hit.

Lake County was held scoreless in the first inning, but would then go on to plate a run in every inning except the eighth, Lake County was outscored 9 to 0 in the final two innings and were in serious jeopardy of losing their lead. Lake County starter Matt Atkins, picked up the victory going six innings while allowing two runs on five hits and striking out a pair.

Kenosha was led offensively by shortstop Joe Ferro. Ferro who has struggled as of late, batted ninth in the order Friday. Ferro ended his evening, going 2 for 5 with a pair of singles and 3 RBI"s. Kenosha's starting pitching Sean Repay made his second start of the series; which lasted only 4 1/3 of an inning; the same as his last start. Repay gave up 10 runs on 9 hits.
